"Ashes to Ashes"
8 min. video loop
For one year, the artist photographed the accumulation of her bodily residues collected from daily rituals of self-maintenance. "Ashes to Ashes" is a looped video which portrays the cremation of these remnants into the form of a consecrated fire altar.
A portion of the ashes were contained in another piece titled "Third Instance (The End)", a hand-blown hourglass which functions as an urn for one year of the artist's life. The remaining ashes can be found in "Self Portrait in Gold”.
